Community to guide the development of a countywide creative arts network

AN EXCITING project focusing on the development of the creative arts sector in Pembrokeshire is inviting members of the community to participate in a survey about their experience of creative activities and events to guide the creation of a countywide cultural network.

Pembrokeshire Inspired, supported by Arwain Sir Benfro – the Local Action Group (LAG) for Pembrokeshire, administered by PLANED aims to increase collaboration and develop entrepreneurial skills to build resilience for creative arts providers in Pembrokeshire. This will enable long term engagement with communities to use arts related activities for strengthening community cohesion, tackling poverty, regeneration, and improving health and wellbeing.

As part of their community consultation, Pembrokeshire Inspired are offering you the opportunity to win a portion of £150 Post Office High Street vouchers or a pair of tickets to see ‘One Man Two, Guvnors’ at Torch Theatre on 31 October 2019 in return for completing a short survey.

Sue Davies, Arts Development Officer for the project said,

“This exciting project is inspired by Pembrokeshire’s unique heritage and culture. We are only partly realising the full educational potential power of the cultural sector by way of its combined social value. The arts in all its forms provide wonderful, creative learning environments, with the potential to motivate, delight and inspire audiences of all ages, cultures and backgrounds.

We are keen to democratise culture and creativity – most of us contribute to cultural events even if we don’t label them as such through just attending and being involved, whether that is baking a cake, learning a language, assisting in any way for a local event, visiting an exhibition or performance. Culture is about our lives in the round; the ways we live, speak, believe, what we produce, celebrate, but at its heart is the act of being creative – a creative spirit.”

To participate in the community survey, for more information or to connect with Pembrokeshire Inspired as an arts provider, visit www.lifeseeker.wales/pembrokeshire-inspired. The survey is available for completion until midnight on Sunday 19 September and is also available as a hard copy by request.
