£30k Welsh Church Fund grants for Ceredigion community organisations

MORE than £30,000 of grants have been awarded from the Welsh Church Fund part of the Ceredigion Community Grant Scheme.

An update on the grants awarded was made on (September 1) with cabinet member Cllr Gareth Lloyd outlining the 2019/20 figures.

It includes two £5,000 payments for Canolfan Dwr Llandsul Aqua Centre and Canolfan Hamdden Tregaron Leisure Centre, the final instalments of grants approved in 2017.

Other grants included £500 for the Showtime Singers, £1,329 for Aberporth Community Council, £25,00 for RAY Ceredigion, £5,000 to Treialon Cwn Defaid Rhyngwaldol Ceredigion 2020 and £10,000 for Ceredigion Citizens Advice Bureau.

Grants awarded totalled £31,765, with support service charges of £2,000, leaving an estimated balance at the end of March of £132,000 in the fund, cabinet heard.

A number of revenue grants were also awarded for the 2019/20 financial year including individual support for young people taking part in sporting and YFC events.

Financial support for county shows Papurau Bro, food festivals and eisteddfod events were also listed, totalling more than £25,000.

A further £63,745 of grants were transferred to 2020/21 including £19,520 for St David’s Church Blaenporth, £25,000 for Cardigan Amateur Boxing Club and £7,854 for Cae Chwarae Felinfach.
