33-home housing development planned for rural village

A DEVELOPER plans to build 33 homes in a rural Denbighshire village.

F G Whitley and Sons Co Ltd has submitted a full application to Denbighshire County Council’s planning committee, seeking permission to build the homes at Llanarmon yn Ial in Denbighshire.

The developer wants to build on an area allocated for housing on agricultural land north of Maes Garmon and Maes Gynnan.

As well as 33 dwellings, the development will include means of access, open space and associated works.

The planning application says the homes will feature stained timber porches and contrasting UPVC windows and doors.

The site is currently grassland bordered by a residential development to the south and agricultural land in all other directions.

A habitat survey of the surrounding land and protected species has been carried out as part of the application.

The survey states that no water bodies exist within 250m that might provide a habitat for the protected great crested newt.

The survey also said there were no bat roosts or nearby badger setts but stated hedgerows did provide suitable nesting habitats for birds.

The planning application is still at an early stage, having been registered by Denbighshire County Council on May 4. But the council has not yet received any objections or correspondence in support of the application, apart from those from official bodies.

Clwyd-Powys Archaeological Trust was consulted and did not object to the development.

Once the public consultation stage of the application is complete, the application will be considered and debated by Denbighshire’s planning committee.

Residents or businesses writing in support or against the application have until May 30 to send their correspondence.
