A Mini Executive Board with a BIG responsibility

WATCH out – there’s a new shadow Executive Board about and although they may be little, they carry a BIG responsibility… ensuring the real Executive Board is delivering on its five year plan! (moving-forward )

Carmarthenshire County Council has recruited 10 Mini Executive Board Members to follow hot on the heels of its real Executive Board over the next year, giving people a better understanding of their key priorities and projects.

They may have little voices, but they certainly have big personalities and have already started asking the councillors some important questions.

First up is Leader of the council, Cllr Emlyn Dole, who met ‘Emlyn Bach’ at new S4C headquarters Yr Egin to face a grilling about the prospects of the £1.3billion City Deal.

More Mini Executive Board Members will get their chance to meet their match and get the lowdown on key priorities in the coming months.

“It has been fantastic to meet Emlyn Bach and introduce him to one of our key projects,” said Cllr Dole.

“Quite rightly, he was not shy in getting straight to the point, and I’m sure he’ll continue to keep me on my toes.

“I hope people will enjoy seeing what we – as an Executive Board – are getting up to as part of this exciting project with our very talented mini’s.”

The Executive Board launched its five year plan ‘Moving Forward in Carmarthenshire’ last year, outlining almost 100 priority projects, schemes or services they want to deliver during their administration.

Each project invests in a key area to improve the economic, environmental, social and cultural well-being of the county.

“Closely aligned to each of these goals is the Well-being of Future Generations (Wales) Act, which makes it all the more appropriate to involve younger members of our community,” said Cllr Dole.

“This project is a lot of fun, but has a significant meaning. We want to deliver improvements for Carmarthenshire that will ensure our future generations, such as our 10 mini’s, have good employment opportunities, supportive communities and great places to enjoy at their leisure as they grow into adulthood and have families of their own.”

Each of the mini’s were chosen by the real Executive Board Members from their own areas.
They are:

· Mair Bach – Haf Jones, from Ferryside

· Dai Bach – Ryan Williams, from Glanamman

· Jane Bach – Nicole Rugg, from Pendine

· Linda Bach – Alwena Owen, from Llanybydder

· Hazel Bach – Emilia May Fillmore, from Newcastle Emlyn

· Peter Bach – Gethin Williams, from Llangunnor

· Philip Bach – Llyr Davies, from St Clears

· Cefin Bach – Ifan Davies, from Dryslwyn

· Glynog Bach – Gruffydd Rees, from Brynaman
