SOUTH Caernarvonshire Yacht Club recently hosted the annual Mirror Dinghy Week and kindly donated the entry fees to Abersoch RNLI.
Due to Covid restrictions the event was unable to take place last year and it was still looking doubtful for this summer. However as restrictions eased the yacht club was able to host a scaled down event and rather than charge competitors the usual entry fee they asked for donations of £10.00 to Abersoch RNLI.
They enjoyed some excellent sailing and managed to put on ten races during the course of the week plus a Junior Helm race.
Selina Collinson, spokesperson for Mirror Dinghy Week at SCYC said, ‘The Club decided to request a donation to the lifeboat station of £10 per boat per entry.’ She added that ‘the event was organised with just 10 days notice and none of the usual social events – just plain racing’. Phill Brown, Chair Abersoch RNLI, received the generous donation of £240.00 on behalf of the Charity and is pictured here at the yacht club with keen Mirror Week competitors, Tom, Annabelle and Lucas.
