NEIL Hamilton, AM for Mid & West Wales and UKIP Leader in Wales, has praised the work of the CAB which celebrates its 80th birthday this year.
Mr Hamilton was speaking after a special celebration was held at the Senedd, in Cardiff, to commemorate the occasion.
He said: “I would like to congratulate everyone involved in the Citizens Advice network for helping to reach this impressive milestone anniversary.
“It is truly a remarkable and inspirational organisation, set up at the outbreak of the Second World War in September 1939. Its aim was to help people who needed confidential, free and independent advice on issues such as rationing.
“Since then, CAB has continued to go from strength to strength and provides invaluable support to those needing information and the confidence to deal with a wide range of problems.
“I am delighted to see Welsh Government continuing financially to support CAB and I welcome its commitment to support the most vulnerable people in our communities.
“I know how important our local Citizens Advice services are to constituents in Mid and West Wales, and I look forward to continuing to work with them to provide services to people who need it most”.
Citizens Advice was formed the day after the outbreak of World War II, and initially helped people deal with the impacts of war, and the huge changes it brought to their daily lives.
While the problems that people bring to Citizens Advice have changed over time, demand for the service has only increased.
