AM welcomes return of major event showcasing Welsh food and drink.

NEIL Hamilton, AM for Mid & West Wales, and Leader of UKIP Wales, has welcomed news of the return of a major event to showcase Welsh food and drink.

Mr Hamilton, a member of the Senedd’s Rural Affairs Committee, said he was delighted to hear BlasCymru/TasteWales will take place at the International Convention Centre Wales in Caerleon, Newport on March 10 and 11, 2021.

He said:

“I am delighted to hear this year’s event was such a huge success and welcome news of another a fantastic opportunity to showcase what we can offer here in Wales.

“This will be the third time we have held such a prestigious international event and it is great to have this in the pipeline.

“We all know that Welsh food and drink is superlative quality and excellent taste and these businesses play a vital part in contributing to the Welsh economy.

“It is a splendid way of bringing together producers, buyers and everyone involved in the catering and hospitality industry, or in food service and retail.

“I have no doubt BlasCymru/TasteWales 2021 will build on the success of the previous two events and continue to raise our international profile.

“I would urge anyone involved in the food or drink industry to start planning now for this future showcase and make sure they attend. I am certainly looking forward to it already!”

The Minister for Environment, Energy and Rural Affairs, Lesley Griffiths said the 2019 event was an unprecedented success generating nearly £22 million in new business opportunities, building on the £16m business secured from the 2017 event.

BlasCymru/TasteWales brings national and international buyers and Welsh food and drink producers together to showcase world class produce and help open new markets and international trade deals.

The event will further establish the Welsh food and drink industry on a global stage and promote Wales as a key location for quality food and drink production.

Over 190 trade buyers attended this year’s show and had the opportunity to network with over 100 Welsh food and drink producers. The event attracted international visitors and buyers from 18 countries across Europe, North America, Middle East and the Far East.
