Amman Valley Christmas Experience to raise funds for 3-year-old with cancer

The Amman Valley Christmas Experience is going to be the largest Christmas event that the Amman Valley has ever seen and its attractions are already creating a huge buzz within the wider community. This incredible experience includes a magical princess forest, skating rink, Santa’s grotto, fun fair and a festive undercover bar and food area with entertainment. But what is even more incredible, is that the profits are generously being donated to Joseph’s campaign so that he can access extra cancer treatment abroad.

Joseph is a 3-year-old boy from Brynamman in Carmarthenshire. Back in April, Joseph was diagnosed with stage 4 High risk Neuroblastoma, a rare and aggressive childhood cancer with poor survival rates. Joseph is currently receiving treatment with the NHS which is hopefully due to finish in June 2022. However, Neuroblastoma is a cruel disease and when Joseph finally gets into remission, he will have a 60% chance of relapsing. But what’s even worse, is that children who relapse only have a 5% chance of long-term survival. It’s for this reason why we are desperately raising money for Joseph to access a clinical trial that will keep the Neuroblastoma cells away forever. Unfortunately, these trials are not yet available in the UK which is why we need to fundraise with the Charity Solving Kids Cancer so that we can give Joseph the best possible chance in life.

The community spirit to help us raise the funds has been overwhelming, and it’s because of a local community fundraiser that a kind and generous business woman ‘Margaret Studt’ became aware of Joseph’s campaign. Walking past the local pharmacy in Brynaman one day, she saw a picture of Joseph within the window and decided to offer her support. However, the support she has given us is truly amazing, and Margret has created a magical Christmas Experience within the village to help us raise the funds that we need, but also help us raise the profile of the campaign. Raising money whilst Joseph is going through this treatment has been extremely difficult on the entire family, however, the support that we have received from the community has helped us so much, and now that Margret is also helping us raise funds, we feel like a weight has been lifted in relation to the fundraising and we can finally start to sleep at night.

A large group of volunteers from the community have generously offered their support to help us staff the event so that more funds can be dedicated to Joseph’s campaign. This is a very busy time of the year and we are overwhelmed with how many people have offered their time to help us.

The Amman Valley Christmas Experience will be open to the public from Friday 26th November, 12pm until 10pm, please see the opening dates below. However, on Thursday 25th the attraction will be open to Joseph’s family and some VIP guests. We would really appreciate any press coverage that you could offer us, particularly coverage of the Family and VIP night. Shane Williams, Mike Phillips, James Hook and Lee Byrne are also launching their Fab Four coffee at this event, Alun Wyn Jones has also accepted an invitation and will be attending with his family if his surgery doesn’t clash. Many celebrities have already supported Joseph’s campaign and we will also be extending the invitation out to them as publicity for this VIP night could really help us get Joseph’s story out to the general public and help us to reach the target that we are so desperate to reach.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this story. We would appreciate any support that you could possibly give us, as the more publicity we can achieve, the faster we will be able to raise the funds needed.
