Businesses urged to decorate shop windows for OVO Energy Women’s Tour

BUSINESSES in Carmarthenshire are being urged to give their shop or office windows a makeover for the OVO Energy Women’s Tour.

The final stage of Britain’s most prestigious women’s cycle race is taking place in the county on Saturday, June 15 and we want to give the world’s top riders a big welcome.

Local businesses, particularly those in communities along the route, are being encouraged to enter our competition and create a stunning window display.

So get your creative juices flowing, let your imagination go wild and join in the fun – this is your chance for your business to shine!

The closing date for entries is 3pm on Friday, June 7; just take a picture of your window and email it to tourism@carmarthenshire.gov.uk. Don’t forget to include your name, business address and contact number and make sure you have the owner’s permission.

The competition will be judged by council chair Kevin Madge and the winner will be announced on our social media feeds on Friday, June 14.

Cllr Madge said: “I would urge local businesses to get into the spirit of the event and help make the final stage of the UK’s leading women’s cycling race a real celebration. I am looking forward to seeing some spectacular window displays which will give the riders – including our very own Manon Lloyd – a real boost as they race through the county.”

Stage six starts at Carmarthen Park, where riders will complete a lap of the historic and recently refurbished Velodrome, and finishes at Pembrey Country Park, taking in the new, closed-road cycle circuit on the approach to the finish line. The cyclists will pass through Carmarthen, Nantgaredig, Brechfa, Abergorlech, Talley, Llandeilo, Ffairfach, Bethlehem, the Black Mountains, Upper Brynamman, Garnant, Ammanford, Penygroes, Gorslas, Cefneithin, Pontyberem, Carway, Trimsaran and Pinged before ending at Pembrey.
