Cadets first to complete leadership course

A GROUP of teenagers have become the first to complete a Dyfed-Powys Police volunteer cadets leadership course, learning to pass their skills on to others.

Nineteen cadets from across the force area met for the first time at police headquarters to take part in the three-day camp.

Over the weekend, they learned to work as a team to solve problems, the basics of training others, as well as developing the skills needed to maintain drill and discipline standards.

They also had an input with the force chaplaincy service, with a session about the importance of looking after their own welfare while supporting others, and a staff v cadets sports competition.

The training ended with a passing out parade, before the cadets were issued with rank bars, signalling their promotion to leading cadet.

PC Andrew Buckley said: “The cadets did very well during the course, and I’m proud of what they achieved.

“A mention should also be given to the Special Constabulary for its support during the weekend.”
