Carmarthenshire council youth service holding first rock hunt

YOUNG people in the county are being encouraged to take part in a Rock Hunt this summer with the chance of winning £30 of vouchers which can be spent on the high street.

Carmarthenshire County Council’s Youth Support Service is holding its first #RockHuntSirGar for children and young people in Carmarthenshire aged eight to 25 years old.

There are 18 rocks painted blue hidden across the county – left on the ground, on benches, walls and some may even be hidden in bushes!

Those wanting to take part in the competition need to post a photo of themselves with the rock on the Youth Support Service Facebook page @CarmsYSS and use the hashtag #RockHuntSirGar or #HelfaGraigSirGar

Everyone taking part in the Rock Hunt is being asked to follow social distancing guidance at all times.

All photographs must be posted on or before August 31, 2020 to be entered into the prize draw for the chance to win the vouchers. The draw will take place at noon on Friday, September 4, 2020.

Full terms and conditions can be found on the Youth Support Service Facebook page @CarmsYSS.

Executive Board Member responsible for Children’s Services and Education, Cllr Glynog Davies, said: “Our Youth Support Service has been innovative and creative in the development of a summer programme for children and young people in the county, as a result of Coronavirus, so the team are doing things a little differently this year and encouraging young people who are out and about over the summer holidays to keep an eye out for these blue rocks hidden around the county. Those taking part are being asked to re-hide a rock if they find one so other children and young people can get involved too.

“We would urge everyone to have fun, but also to remember to always follow social distancing guidelines.”
