Carmarthenshire Labour open Ammanford office to support local residents

A new constituency office has been opened by Carmarthenshire Labour this week in an effort to support local residents and businesses.

The constituency office will act as both a community hub, providing computer access for those that require it, and an advice centre for those requiring support with local issues.

The office is said to be funded by the local party, rather than the taxpayer paying the running costs, as is the case for other political offices in the area.
The local office is being staffed by local volunteers and councillors, being open to the public Wednesday, Friday and Saturday 10am to 4pm.

Local volunteer, Helen Taylor, said “It is wonderful to see that our efforts have now resulted in the new community hub and constituency office being open for local residents living in Carmarthenshire.

“We hope this area will support individuals that require computer access, we have a selection of political literature for people to borrow and we also hope to help individuals with their local issues.”

Carmarthenshire Labour Leader, Cllr Rob James, officially opened the office stating “Over the last few months, we have had thousands of conversations with local residents and businesses in the area, and it was clear that the area needed us to stand up for their interests.

“This constituency office will aid us in that effort and we hope that anyone who needs advice and/or support will make use of the space.

“I want to thank all those that have put in some much time and effort to create this community hub for local residents and I look forward to holding regular surgeries here with fellow Councillors to support residents with their concerns.”

Individuals do not have to book an appointment prior to their arrival, yet they are expected to adhere to the Welsh Government’s Coronavirus advice when utilising the space.
