Cashmore sent to young offenders institution for catalogue of assault, abuse, harassment and criminal damage

A 20-year-old man has appeared at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court facing six charges including assaulting a police officer,  spitting blood in his face and  harassing a doctor.

Robert George Cashmore of  38 Heol Tregoning Llanelli pleaded guilty to five offences. One offence was withdrawn.

The court heard that 1. on 27/01/2020 at Llanelli Cashmore assaulted PS Coppock, an emergency worker, namely a Police Officer, acting in the exercise of his functions as such a worker Contrary to section 39 of the Criminal Justice Act 1988 and section 1 of the Assaults on Emergency Workers (Offences) Act 2018. assault upon a Police

The court heard that 2.  on 27/01/2020 at Llanelli that Cashmore, with intent to cause Dr Mohammad Ulhaq harassment, alarm or distress used threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour or disorderly behaviour thereby causing that or another person harassment, alarm and the offence was racially aggravated within the terms of section 28 of the Crime and Disorder Act 1998 Contrary to section 31(1)(b) and (4) of the Crime and Disorder Act 1998.

The court heard that 3. on 27/01/2020 at Llanelli without lawful excuse, Cashmore damaged a Police Vehicle, a Ford Transit A24 to the value of £135 belonging to Dyfed Powys Police intending to destroy or damage such property or being reckless as to whether such property would be destroyed or damaged
Contrary to sections 1(1) and 4 of the Criminal Damage Act 1971 .

The court heard that 4. on 27/01/2020 at Ammanford without lawful excuse, Cashmore damaged a Custody Cell at Ammanford Police Station to the value of £135 belonging to Dyfed Powys Police intending to destroy or damage such property or being reckless as to whether such property would be destroyed or damaged t
Contrary to sections 1(1) and 4 of the Criminal Damage Act 1971.

The court heard that 5. on 27/01/2020 at Llanelli, with intent to cause PC 1042 Wood harassment, Cashmore used threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour or disorderly behaviour, thereby causing that person or another harassment, alarm or distress Contrary to Section 4A(1) and (5) of the Public Order Act 1986.

Cashmore was found guilty of the five offences and sentenced to 20 months in a young offenders institution. He was ordered to pay a total of £522 in compensation.
