Celebrating Dyfed-Powys Police’s Ceredigion Custody Team

TODAY we are looking back at Dyfed-Powys Police’s 2020 Team of the Year winners, the Ceredigion Custody Team.

Though their work happens behind locked doors and barred windows, the dedication of Ceredigion’s detention and escort support officers, custody constables and sergeants does not go unnoticed.

At the 2020 Dyfed-Powys Police Annual Awards, the team were recognised for their continual commitment to one of the force’s most demanding environments.

Dyfed-Powys Police custody suits operate twenty-four hours a day, 365 days of the year, and the staff running them have the utmost responsibility in ensuring the safety of everybody who enters the facilities.

Detainees can sometimes prove challenging, but the spirited Aberystwyth-based team maintain their professionalism and create the best environment possible – something that has been recognised by CRG Healthcare Service’s medical professionals, who provide primary healthcare in the custodial setting.

The team never know who is going to come through their door next, but are always ready to face unique challenges and overcome barriers to help and respect people from all different backgrounds.

The team have also been commended for their contribution to complex cases, including those linked to County Lines offences, as well as serious and organised crime.

Dyfed-Powys Police Temporary Deputy Chief Constable Emma Ackland congratulated and thanked the Ceredigion Custody Team for their “resilience, perseverance and demonstration of pride in what they do. “
