Celebrations all round for latest National Lottery funding in Carmarthenshire

Nine groups in Carmarthenshire are celebrating the news that they’re among the latest in Wales to receive National Lottery funding. They are:

Chooselife Cymru in Llanelli will use £9,870 to improve outdoor garden facilities including patios, seating areas and bike shelters for two of their supported houses for vulnerable adults.

Alan Andrews, Director at Chooselife said: “We really appreciate this grant from the National Lottery as it will enable residents who have felt really isolated over the past 20 months to get outside and learn about gardening, which will help to rebuild their self-esteem and get some fresh air in a safe environment. All this will have a positive effect on their mental wellbeing.”

Bryn & Trallwm Sports & Social Club will use £10,000 to run a series of activities such as festive celebrations, trips, and a pantomime, that bring together isolated people of all ages in their community.

Pembrey and Burry Port Town Council will use £9,200 to provide a covered outdoor marquee area next to their Memorial Hall for the community to be able to hold more activities safely.

Trimsaran Family Centre will use £8,485 to provide gardening, cooking, advice, and educational activities for people across several age groups in their local community.

Betws Family Centre ‘Ty Tyfu’ will use £10,000 to deliver a weekly baby massage, baby group and buggy walk for families with children 0-1 years of age to support and upskill new parents.

Tumble Family Centre will use £10,000 to employ a play worker to deliver play sessions to support new parents who are at risk of, or who are suffering from the negative effects of isolation.

Tycroes Friendship Group will use £9,850 to organise a series of activities and outings that help isolated older people build friendships and improve their health and wellbeing.

Llangadog Community Centre will use £4,640 to install an air filter which will help to protect users from COVID-19 by sanitising the building’s air.

Carmarthen Stroke Group will use £7,000 to provide ongoing support and regular activities for stroke survivors.

The groups are among 62 projects celebrating receiving a share of £836,417 in National Lottery grants this month.

The grants have been made possible thanks to National Lottery players and support communities to prosper and thrive. The National Lottery Community Fund distributes money raised by National Lottery players for good causes. National Lottery players raise over £30 million each week for good causes throughout the UK.
