We are offering the opportunity to ‘earn as you learn’ as a Trainee Social Worker. The scheme has been established to offer a sponsorship route to becoming a Social Worker.

Geraint Edwards, Ceredigion County Council’s Corporate Lead Officer for People & Organisation said: “This is an excellent opportunity for those with experience in social care to take the next step, train to become a Social Worker and contribute to Team Ceredigion.”

Our Social Work Trainees work in social work teams and receive a salary while they are sponsored to complete the three-year Social Work degree programme with the Open University.

Councillor Ray Quant, Cabinet Member for Legal and Governance, People and Organisation and Democratic Services said: “It is a really exciting time to join the Council as we work to transform the way we deliver social care. Social Care Wales and Care Inspectorate Wales are following our ground breaking and innovative transformation project. Our Trainee Social Workers are highly valued members of our workforce who can influence the future of social work in Ceredigion. “

Our scheme provides trainees with the chance to obtain a professional degree and establish a worthwhile career without incurring University debt.

Aisha Nutting, a former Trainee who qualified in 2017, and is now a Senior Social Worker said: “During my training, I was really well supported by qualified and experienced social workers. I worked with a variety of teams and people and now I have a job I am passionate about and an established career.”

An online information session for interested applicants will be held on 2 March. To book a place on the information session email dysgu@ceredigion.gov.uk. For more information on the scheme, visit: https://careers.ceredigion.gov.uk/jobs/req103590/
