Circcieth’s RNLI Lifeboat Station launches two Lifeboats following reports of three persons cut-off by incoming tide

At 12.00pm on Thursday (Jan 2) 2020 volunteer Crewmembers from Circcieth’s RNLI Lifeboat Station launched both Lifeboats following reports of three persons cut-off by an incoming tide near Borth y Gest.

The Crew promptly launched the Station’s Atlantic 85 class Lifeboat, Doris Joan, from Criccieth into heavy seas, whilst its smaller inshore rescue boat, Margaret a Nantw, was transported by road to Porthmadog for launching. Reports indicated that two adults and one child were stuck on a rocky outcrop seaward of Borth y Gest.

Once launched, both Lifeboats joined the local HM Coastguard team in conducting a thorough search of the area. As the Lifeboats searched, onshore Crewmembers questioned walkers and people in local cafes to see if further information could be gathered. As the search continued and more information became apparent, it was confirmed that all three persons were safely ashore and that the call was a false-alarm with good intent. Both Lifeboats were stood-down and returned to Station.
