IN a bid to reduce confusion a draft policy to cover all expenses associated with carers and their work is to be discussed.
Ceredigion County Council’s cabinet agreed that a guidelines for service users, carers, care providers and staff who can access assisted transport be consulted on.
It covers travel and mileage, refreshments and meals in the community, admission to activities, service users going on holiday or non-routine travel, emergency scenarios and volunteers.
Cllr Alun Williams, cabinet member for adult services, said it was a “single, clear policy that applies to all services” to ensure a “consistent and equitable process.”
A report to cabinet on Tuesday (May 21) added: ” There are varying approaches taken by care providers/PA’s regarding paying for expenses associated with care provision. This leads to confusion for care managers, staff, providers, service users and their carers when identifying who is
responsible for paying for things such as travel/mileage, refreshments/meals and holiday costs.”
The consultation will run from June 3 to September 15 with results to be discussed by scrutiny committee.
