A PUBLIC consultation is underway to allow people an opportunity to have their say on plans to replace an area of recreational ground in Pembrey.
Carmarthenshire County Council has obtained planning permission and funding to build a new primary school on an area of land off Ashburnham Road that is currently held by a charitable trust for the people of Pembrey to use for recreation.
As the council is the sole trustee of that charity, it has established an independent advisory panel to act on the charity’s behalf to ensure the recreational space is adequately replaced.
The council has proposed transferring another parcel of land at Waun Sidan, currently used as a playground, to the charity.
It has also proposed providing public access to an improved playground within the new school once it is complete.
The independent panel has considered the proposals and has asked for the council to arrange a public consultation to help members make their decision.
There are a number of ways for interested parties to have their say before the consultation ends on February 28, 2020.
A public meeting has been arranged at Pembrey Community Hall on Thursday, February 13, at 3.30pm.
A consultation document is also available online at www.carmarthenshire.gov.wales, or representations can be made in writing to the panel by email at sshiva@vwv.co.uk.
