CARMARTHENSHIRE County Council has teamed up with one of its major local food suppliers to offer a food distribution service in response to the Coronavirus emergency.
The council is working with Cross Hands-based Castell Howell to make food available to everyone.
A ‘phone and collect’ service is now available, with a number of customer collection points throughout the county.
Orders can be placed seven days a week – 8am-8pm Monday to Friday, and 8am-4pm on weekends. Visit www.castellhowellfoods.co.uk to browse products and call 01269 505919 to place an order.
Food can be collected any day from its base at Cross Hands Food Park (SA14 6SX).
As a trial, food can also be ordered for collection at the following locations on Monday, March 23, and Thursday March 26:
Llandeilo Bakery, Beechwood Industrial Estate, Llandeilo, SA19 7HR – 10am-2pm
Ramps Skate Park, Traeth Ffordd, Sandy Bridge, Llanelli, SA15 4AX – 10am-2pm
Roadhouse Restaurant, Llanboidy Road roundabout, Whitland, SA34 0LG – 10am-2pm
Llanybydder Rugby Club, Station Terrace, Llanybydder, SA40 9XX – 2pm-3pm

Council Leader, Cllr Emlyn Dole, said: “We’re pleased to come together with Castell Howell to provide a food distribution service in these especially difficult times. We know that many people are in isolation to protect their own health, or their loves ones, and we appreciate that some people are unable to go out to a supermarket to shop for food supplies safely.
“We’d like to thank the team at Castell Howell for their support and eagerness to help people, and we hope that this service is useful to people over the coming weeks.”
Kath Jones, of Castell Howell, added: “We were keen to work with Carmarthenshire County Council to distribute food to people during this crisis. In times of unprecedented uncertainty across all business sectors, especially food service and hospitality, it’s good to see everyone working together.”
Castell Howell wishes to provide reassurance that all precautionary measures have been undertaken to ensure the safety of staff and customers including stringent hygiene protocols.
