A caravan will remain at The Crown Inn, Llwyndafydd, for four years while the site is redeveloped.

Councillors said that Joe Guy Sansom could move the caravan already by the pub to a different location despite planning officers’ concerns it would be more visible.

At Wednesday’s (August 14)  development control committee at Ceredigion County Council councillors decided that Mr Sansom, of Blue Bay Investments, be given the time to redevelop the pub and surrounding land to improve his business.

The pub is currently vacant and earlier this year planning permission was granted for its redevelopment to include the change of use of the first floor of the pub from a manager’s dwelling to rental rooms and the demolition of self-contained flat and the erection of a two storey extension to provide new kitchen and dining area.

A static caravan on the eastern side of the pub was given a certificate of lawful development in September 2018 but a plan to move it to the north was considered to cause a “greater detrimental visual impact.”

The site also has an application under consideration for one open market dwelling and an affordable home on land adjacent as well as extant planning permission for a development in the pub car park.

Local member Cllr Gareth Lloyd said the pub was in a “very popular location.”

“A lot of people are wanting to see this open again and it’s nice to see the work going on with the new owner,” he added.
