COVID-19 tests now being encouraged for people in the Hywel Dda region with a wider range of symptoms / Annog profion COVID-19 ar gyfer trigolion rhanbarth Hywel Dda sydd ag ystod ehangach o symptomau

MAE pobl sy’n byw yn Sir Gaerfyrddin, Ceredigion a Sir Benfro yn cael eu hannog i gael prawf COVID-19 am ddim os oes ganddyn nhw ystod ehangach o symptomau.

Yn flaenorol, dim ond y rhai â thymheredd uchel, peswch parhaus newydd, neu golli / newid blas ac arogl, a gynghorwyd i gael prawf. Mae’r bwrdd iechyd bellach hefyd yn annog pobl i gael prawf os oes ganddyn nhw unrhyw un o’r symptomau canlynol:

Symptomau tebyg i ffliw, gan gynnwys myalgia (poen yn y cyhyrau neu); blinder gormodol; cur pen parhaus; trwyn yn rhedeg neu drwyn wedi’i rwystro; tisian yn barhaus; dolur gwddf a / neu grygni, prinder anadl neu wichian
Teimlo’n sâl yn gyffredinol a hanes o fod mewn cysylltiad ag achos hysbys o COVID-19
Unrhyw symptomau newydd neu newid yn dilyn prawf negyddol blaenorol
Nod y newid yw dod o hyd i achosion COVID-19 cudd yn ein cymunedau a lleihau nifer y trosglwyddiadau.

Mae nodi heintiau, a allai fel arall heb eu canfod, yn arbennig o bwysig wrth i amrywiadau newydd o’r feirws ddod i’r amlwg. Po fwyaf o brofion a gynhelir, yr hawsaf fydd hi i adnabod clystyrau cynnar o achosion a newidiadau feirws posibl. Bydd hyn yn helpu i leddfu cyfyngiadau yn y dyfodol.

Bydd y drefn brofi newydd yn rhedeg i ddechrau am o leiaf 28 diwrnod ac yna’n cael ei hadolygu. Mae Bwrdd Iechyd Prifysgol Bae Abertawe hefyd yn ehangu ei gynnig o brofi fel hyn.

Dywedodd Alison Shakeshaft, Cyfarwyddwr Therapïau a Gwyddor Iechyd ym Mwrdd Iechyd Prifysgol Hywel Dda: “Ar y cyfan, rydym yn gweld darlun cadarnhaol ar draws y tair sir a bu cwymp cyson yn nifer yr achosion COVID-19.

“Hefyd, mae’r galw am brofion wedi gostwng yn sylweddol ers diwedd 2020, felly mae gennym y gallu i ehangu’r cynnig o brofi i’r rheini sydd ag ystod ehangach o symptomau.

“Rydym yn gwybod bod y grŵp ehangach o symptomau yn digwydd gyda COVID-19 ond nid ydynt yn cael eu hadrodd mor aml â’r tri symptom arferol. Gyda cyfraddau isel iawn o ffliw yn cylchredeg ar hyn o bryd, mae’n fwy tebygol bod symptomau ehangach tebyg i ffliw oherwydd COVID-19.

“Ein nod yw dod o hyd i gynifer o achosion COVID-19 â phosibl fel y gallwn atal y feirws rhag cael ei drosglwyddo i eraill. Rydyn ni eisiau gwneud popeth o fewn ein gallu i helpu i ddod â’r pandemig i ben mor gyflym â phosib a helpu i godi’r cyfyngiadau. ”

Os oes gennych unrhyw un o’r symptomau a amlinellir uchod, arhoswch gartref a chael prawf trwy archebu ar-lein trwy borth y DU https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test neu ffonio 119.

Gan mai cysylltiadau cenedlaethol yw’r rhain, efallai y gofynnir ichi yn awtomatig am y tri symptom cyffredin. Fodd bynnag, i archebu’ch prawf, dewiswch naill ai un o’r opsiynau hyn: “Mae eich cyngor lleol wedi gofyn i chi gael prawf” neu “Rydych chi’n rhan o brosiect peilot y llywodraeth”.

Ar ôl i chi gael eich prawf, rhaid i chi barhau i hunan-ynysu nes i chi dderbyn eich canlyniad, a fydd fel arfer o fewn 24 awr i’r prawf. Os yw’ch canlyniad yn bositif, rhaid i chi hunan-ynysu am 10 diwrnod o’r dyddiad y dechreuodd eich symptomau. Bydd y Tîm Olrhain lleol yn cysylltu â chi hefyd.

Os yw’ch canlyniad yn negyddol, gallwch chi ddod â’ch hunan-ynysu i ben, pan fyddwch chi’n teimlo’n ddigon da i wneud hynny.

People living in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire are being encouraged to have a free COVID-19 test if they have a wider range of symptoms.

Previously, only those with either a high temperature, a new continuous cough, or a loss/change of taste and smell, were advised to seek a test. The health board is now also encouraging people to have a test if they have any of the following symptoms:

Flu-like symptoms, including myalgia (muscle ache or pain); excessive tiredness; persistent headache; runny nose or blocked nose; persistent sneezing; sore throat and/or hoarseness, shortness of breath or wheezing
Generally feeling unwell and a history of being in contact with a known COVID-19 case
Any new or change in symptoms following a previous negative test
The change aims to find hidden COVID-19 cases in our communities and drive down the numbers of onward transmissions.

Identifying infections, which could otherwise go undetected, is particularly important as new variants of the virus emerge. The more tests carried out, the easier it will be to spot early clusters of cases and possible virus mutations. This will help with easing restrictions in the future.

The new testing regime will initially run for at least 28 days and will then be reviewed. Swansea Bay University Health Board is also expanding its offer of testing in this way.

Alison Shakeshaft, Director of Therapies and Health Science at Hywel Dda University Health Board, said: “Overall, we are seeing a positive picture across the three counties and there has been a steady fall in the number of COVID-19 cases.

“Also, the demand for tests has come down considerably since the end of 2020, so we have capacity to expand the offer of testing to those with a wider range of symptoms.

“We know the wider group of symptoms do occur in COVID-19 but are not reported as often as the ‘classic three’ symptoms. With the very low rates of flu circulating at the moment, it is more likely that wider flu-like symptoms are due to COVID-19.

“Our aim is to find as many COVID-19 cases as possible so we can prevent the virus being passed on to others. We want to do everything we can to help bring the pandemic to a close as fast as possible and help restrictions to be lifted.”

If you have any of the symptoms outlined above, please stay at home and get a test by booking online via the UK portal https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test or ringing 119.

As these are national contacts, you may automatically be asked about the ‘classic three’ symptoms. However, to book your test simply choose either one of these options: “You have been asked to take a test by your local council” or “You are part of a government pilot project”.

Once you have had your test, you must continue to self-isolate until you receive your result, which will usually be within 24 hours of the test. If your result is positive, you must self-isolate for 10 days from the date your symptoms started. You will also be contacted by the local Tracing Team.

If your result is negative, you can end your self-isolation, when you feel well enough to do so.
