Criccieth RNLI Lifeboat launches to assist casualty with serious knee injury

AT 4.35pm on Thursday the 8th of July, 2021 volunteer Crewmembers from Criccieth’s RNLI Lifeboat Station launched to assist a paddle-boarder who had suffered a serious knee injury near Harlech Beach.

Once tasked by HM Coastguard, the Station’s Atlantic 85-class Lifeboat, Doris Joan, made best-speed towards the casualty’s location. On-scene, the Crew located the paddle-boarder in shallow water and in significant discomfort. With the tide rising swiftly and deep channels filling between their location and the shoreline, the Crew – trained in casualty care – decided that the best course of action was to relocate the individual ashore where further care could be administered and the casualty kept warm until medical care arrived.

With the casualty ashore, the Crew continued to provide care until further medical assistance arrived to give pain suppression and address the injury prior to transferring them to hospital.
