A former storage building will be turned into a ‘discovery centre’ at a popular country park near Haverfordwest.

Pembrokeshire County Council’s plan to turn an existing storage building at Scolton Manor Country Park into a museum display and demonstration area has been given the green light by planning officers on July 27.

The ‘Scolton Manor Discovery Centre’ is next to the existing car park at the site in Bethlehem and will be the latest addition to the manor house park and other attractions set in the large grounds and woodland area.

Minor alterations to the building are required and planning officers consider the “intensification of the facilities at the site would be acceptable” with the car parking sufficient.

A 1km woodland bike track is due to open this month at the country park, along with a small “pump track” – a circular route of rollers and banked turns designed to be ridden using momentum rather than pedalling – funded by Sports Wales.
