Eluned Morgan and Angela Rayner hit out at Tory failure to deal with Washington violence comments

ON BBC Wales Coronavirus update today, Andrew RT Davies refused to apologise for his Washington violence comments. Welsh Labour Wellbeing Minister Eluned Morgan and Labour Deputy Leader Angela Rayner have responded on Twitter.

Conservative sources last week told the media that party chair Amanda Milling would be writing to Andrew RT Davies to warn him about his language. This appears to have had little effect. The original tweet from Andrew RT Davies remains on his feed.

There are now further calls on Paul Davies as Conservative group leader in the Senedd to take action.

Eluned Morgan MS said:

Andrew just refused to apologise on @BBCWales news and still nothing from @WelshConserv. Now, more than ever, politicians have a duty to act responsibly on social media. As leader, @PaulDaviesPembs should be unequivocal in his commendation of such behaviour. Set an example!

Deputy Leader of the Labour Party, Angela Rayner MP said:

Shocking that Andrew Davies won’t apologise and withdraw his comments. Equating armed violence in Washington DC with peaceful democratic debate in the UK is dangerous and legitimises & incites violence here. I have written to

@amandamilling & @Conservatives must act immediately.

I wrote to @amandamilling last week demanding urgent action against senior Tory politicians who equated an armed, violent and anti-democratic assault on the US legislature with democratic debate in the UK. These comments must be condemned & withdrawn.
