Expressions of interest wanted from county businesses

LOCAL businesses that could potentially help Carmarthenshire County Council deliver essential services during the Coronavirus emergency are being asked to get in contact.

Plumbers, electricians, care workers, caterers, builders and HGV/delivery drivers now have the chance to register an interest through a form on the council website.

Businesses that register may then be called on in coming weeks to assist the council with its on-going work to support the elderly, vulnerable and others most in need.

Those businesses that have already expressed an interest with the council are also being asked to register.

Cllr Emlyn Dole, Carmarthenshire County Council Leader, said: “The council is carrying out a huge amount of work in communities throughout Carmarthenshire to support residents and businesses, but careful planning is needed to ensure we’re in a position to maintain this level of support.

“That’s why we’re asking businesses in the sectors identified to register an interest with the council, should we need their services in coming weeks.

“Not all business that register will be contracted, but this is an opportunity for local plumbers, electricians, care workers, caterers, builders and HGV/delivery drivers to ensure they’re in a position to potentially benefit.

“This scheme is further reassurance that the council is committed to doing everything possible to protect our local businesses and residents during this unprecedented challenge.”

A dedicated business section of the council website has been made available, giving advice on sources of funding and signposting businesses to further helpful information and support.

An online community directory of Carmarthenshire businesses willing to support residents is also being regularly updated.

Businesses can also request further information by emailing bureau@carmarthenshire.gov.uk or calling the council’s helpline on 01267 234567, which is open seven days a week from 8.30am to 6pm.
