FISH farmers at Llyn Brenig have floy-tagged numerous fish ready for a
season Welsh Water’s long tagged fish competition, which starts on March 18.

Llyn Brenig is situated in the heart of the Denbigh Moors and on the border between the counties of Conwy and Denbighshire.

To mark the beginning of the fishing season, this exciting free to enter
competition will see keen fishermen compete for the tagged fish that are
being introduced to the lake throughout the season.

In addition to the usual stocking, 300 extra large rainbow trout have
also been introduced for the coming season. Some of these are over 10lb
in weight!

Floy tagging competitions are very popular in the US and are established
in many other countries including Australia. Llyn Brenig offers perfect
fishing conditions and fish stock to offer a floy tag competition, and
with a £1,000 cash first prize, it’s certainly worth entering!

Floy tags are inserted in the back of the fish by the dorsal fin, this
is completely harmless. Fishermen can collect tags and return them to
Llyn Brenig Visitor Centre or email photographs with the details on the
tag. A valid fishing permit is required to fish at Llyn Brenig Lake,
these can be purchased online or in the visitor centre.

The season long event concludes on 3rd November with an end of year
prize draw on 5th November, using details of the tags collected
throughout the season.

1st prize – £1,000 cash; 2nd prize – full season ticket and 3rd prize – half season ticket.
