Fish and chips at Costa Del Llanelli for Labour leaders

LABOUR’S big guns paid a visit to Llanelli to bolster the campaign for Llanelli Welsh Labour candidate Lee Waters.

Passers by may be forgiven for doing a double take as Keir Starmer, Mark Drakeford, Nia Griffith and Lee Waters sat on the beach front to enjoy fish and chips form a cafe in Seaside.

Lee Waters was joined by UK Labour leader Keir Starmer and First Minister Mark Drakeford in Seaside as the Senedd elections campaign enters its final stretch.

The visit comes with less than three weeks to go until voters across the Llanelli constituency elect their next Member of the Senedd.

Following some door to door campaigning in Seaside, the only natural finishing point was a visit to Mr Chips.

Llanelli candidate Lee Waters said:

“We had a really good reception today for Mark Drakeford and Keir Starmer in Seaside. This is Mark’s second visit to the constituency during the campaign, and there continues to be lots of appreciation for the leadership he has shown during the pandemic.”

He added:

“If people want to keep Mark as First Minister to see us through this pandemic, we need to win here in Llanelli. I am fighting for every vote on May 6th.”

Mark Drakeford, Welsh Labour leader and First Minister, said:

“I was delighted to be out on the doors with Lee Waters and Keir Starmer yesterday. Talking to people about what matters to them is what I love doing – and to finish with fish and chips for lunch made the day even better!

“Lee has been a phenomenal representative for Llanelli and I hope to get to work with him again after the election.”
