Flint RNLI launch to drifting 25ft cabin cruiser near Mostyn Dock

FLINT RNLI lifeboat crew launched at the request of UK Coastguard on Saturday (Oct 3), to a sailing vessel drifting in the River Dee near Mostyn Dock.

A request to launch was received from UK Coastguard at 12.09pm after reports from members of the public that a cabin cruiser was drifting in River Dee near Mostyn Dock

Flint RNLI lifeboat launched at Greenfield and proceeded towards Mostyn, with help from Flint Coastguard Rescue Team, the lifeboat located the vessel aground at Ffynnongroyw. Once on scene, it was found that the cabin cruiser had no persons onboard, it was suspected that the vessel had broke its mooring and drifted down the river.

With the vessel aground, it was deemed safe and with no life at risk, the Lifeboat was stood down by UK Coastguard.

Flint RNLI crewmember Gavin Jones said:

“Thank you for the member of the public who rang 999. If you ever see anyone or any vessel in trouble in the water, please do not hesitate to call 999 and ask for the coastguard”
