CARMARTHENSHIRE County Council’s garden waste collection service has now re-started, with residents on the ‘brown week’ schedule receiving their first collection this week.

Residents can check their collection day and download a collection calendar on the garden waste pages on our website.

Garden waste is a paid-for, seasonal service with collections taking place fortnightly. This year collections will take place until the week ending November 19 or 25, depending on your collection week.

Other ways of dealing with garden waste include home composting – compost bins can be purchased from the council; or garden waste can be taken to your nearest recycling centre to be disposed of (appointments are needed to visit one of our recycling centres and some vehicles need a permit).

All garden waste in Carmarthenshire, whether it is collected from the kerbside or disposed of at a recycling centre, is taken to a central composting facility at Nantycaws, Carmarthen, where it is turned into compost to be reused. It is available to buy from the recycling centres at Trostre (Llanelli), Wernddu (Ammanford) Nantycaws (Carmarthen) and Whitland.

For more information or to apply for garden waste collections, buy a compost bin or find information on our recycling centres, please visit Carmarthenshire.gov.wales/recycling
