RESPONDING to the findings from the Independent Maternity Services Oversight Panel’s review of maternal care at the former Cwm Taf University Health Board, Plaid Cymru’s Shadow Minister for Health, Rhun ap Iorwerth MS, said:
“We continue to learn how mothers, babies and their families were let down by Cwm Taf Morgannwg Health Board, with another report saying mothers weren’t listened to, that problems weren’t properly identified and escalated, and that leadership was ineffective. This report highlights so many things that could have been done differently to bring about better outcomes for those involved.
“We’re told that lessons have been learnt and that improvement has been seen in a number of areas, but Welsh Government must show beyond doubt that they have taken the findings of these reports seriously and what tangible action has been taken by the health board.”
