HDPP at the Royal Welsh Show 2022

Dyfed-Powys Police are attending the Royal Welsh Show this year. In a statement the force said:

Our focus at this year’s Royal Welsh Show is equipping the public with the knowledge they need to notice when something is not right, and – crucially – what to do next.

From spotting signs of domestic abuse to recognising when a loved one has fallen prey to fraudsters, the public’s support in breaking these cycles of abuse is critical.

Officers and staff are on hand to advise what to look out for, and the best ways to share concerns or report a crime.

Our Rural Crime team are sharing techniques to protect against scrap metal, catalytic converter, quad bike and heating oil thefts, while cyber detectives advise on how to stay safe when doing business online.

Inspector Reuben Palin will be explaining his work with other Welsh forces to tackle heritage crime, and learn about Operation Seabird, a multi-agency campaign encouraging people to act responsibly around marine life.

The Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner will be listening to visitor’s views about the Police and Crime Plan and how community policing can be improved.

You can also find out about the rewarding opportunities available as a volunteer or as a Youth Ambassador.

For those curious about a career in policing, the force’s recruitment team will be hosting one-to-one sessions, and some of our business apprentices will also be talking about their experience of joining HDDP.

Throughout the week, families can pick up tips on how to stay safe while still having fun.

Children talk to a police officer at the official Heddlu Dyfed Powys Police stand.

Learn how to teach your child to safely ask for help if they get separated in a crowd, and pick up free ID wristbands for your family.

Junior investigators can also look for clues in our mini crime scene, enjoy a spot of fancy dress and get their faces painted.

Petrol heads of all ages will enjoy chatting to GoSafe’s PS Ian Price about our fleet, from motorbikes through to our newest electric vehicles, and dog handler PC Hefyn Jones will be introducing his canine partner in crime.

You can find us at stand E398, opposite the grandstand. Come and say hello!
