THE Minister for Health and Social Services Eluned Morgan has issued the following statement on COVID-19 Vaccination – Progress against Strategy:
Today, I am publishing the latest version of our COVID-19 vaccination programme update.
I am pleased to confirm our Booster campaign is underway to protect our most vulnerable alongside first vaccinations for 12-15 year-olds. Some of the most vulnerable 12 to 15 year-olds in Wales have already started receiving the vaccine and all health boards will have started rolling out the programme in their areas this week. All 12 to 15 year-olds will be invited by letter to have the vaccine and the majority of appointments will be at mass vaccination centres. We aim to offer the vaccine to all 12-15 year-olds by the end of October half term.
I am aware that some people in Hywel Dda University Health Board area have received appointment letters for the COVID-19 booster and the first dose for 12-15 year olds which asked them to attend a vaccination centre that is not local to where they live. Hywel Dda UHB have confirmed that, provided you have received an appointment letter, you can go to your nearest vaccination centre at a time that is convenient for you, this may not be the location on the letter.
Our NHS will always work hard to make sure no one is left behind and reoffer the vaccine to those who have not had it yet. The COVID-19 vaccination programme is open and available to everyone in Wales aged 12 and over. The vaccine is our best means of protection against coronavirus.
