PLAID Cymru has responded to the extension of eligibility of self-isolation payments. Parents and carers on low wages whose children are asked to self-isolate by school are now eligible for the payments.
Plaid Cymru Shadow Minister for Economy and Tackling Poverty, Helen Mary Jones MS said,
“Plaid Cymru called for this change on several occasions, so I’m pleased to hear that it will now be implemented.
“I would however ask for assurances from the Welsh Government that they will look at other barriers, both financial and practical, that people face when needing to self-isolate.
“No one should be in a position in which they must choose between putting food on the table or putting others at risk.”
