Hendy pool opens ‘again’ through force of nature

A community pool in the village of Hendy which closed in 2002, due to safety concerns has miraculously re-opened due to the floods across Wales in recent days. Those making the most of the outdoor pool have not been bikini-clad or bathing costume residents of Hendy but, instead, there furry friends, pooches of all kinds including Bella, (pictured below).

Residents of Hendy took to social media with some light-hearted banter. Some residents said that after having made unsuccessful efforts to secure grants to reopen their town pool, the forces of nature have instead stepped in and, provided help for free.

On a more serious note, Hendy, Pontarddulais and Llangennech which are served by the river Loughor and river Morlais have seen disturbing rises in water levels which have affected properties, roads and parks. The wet weather looks set to continue and there are flood warnings in place across Wales.
