ON May 6th we will elect a new Senedd. I have been privileged to be Llanelli’s MS since 2016, and I’ll be fighting for every vote between now and then.
Welsh Labour made six key pledges in its 2016 manifesto and delivered on all of them this Senedd term. As three examples – we created 100,000 apprenticeships, gave parents the most generous childcare offer anywhere in the UK, and doubled the capital limit for older people going into residential care.
In the next Senedd term (2021-2026), we want to go further. On day one, a Welsh Labour Government will get to work on a recovery programme for our NHS and schools. For our young people who have sacrificed so much during the pandemic, a guarantee of work, education or training for everyone under 25. We will pay all care workers the Real Living Wage, giving them the fair deal they deserve. For a greener country, we will abolish more single-use plastics and create a National Forest for Wales. We will fund more PCSO’s to help keep our communities safe, something the Tories have admitted they will cut. And for our economy, we will create thousands of jobs in a low-carbon house building revolution.
We have a positive, ambitious, and deliverable plan to move Wales forward from this pandemic. I’m looking forward to taking our plan to voters across the Llanelli constituency over the next few weeks.
