A development including affordable homes is back before planners next week.

A proposal to build five houses in Pontgarreg, near Llangrannog, was deferred from April’s development control meeting by Ceredigion county councillors.

Members of the committee wanted to carry out a site inspection visit before making their decision on the outline plan, which officers have recommended for refusal.

The applicant hopes to build three open market units and two affordable homes in a field next to the existing residential estate known as Heol y Garreg, with the current access road used for the new houses.

After visiting the site the panel “considered that the application should be refused planning permission” a report to Wednsady’s (May 8) meeting states.

“The panel concurred with the views of officers in that the proposal was contrary to the adopted housing strategy and that insufficient evidence had been submitted with the application to demonstrate a need for this further
development at the present time,” it added.

It makes clear that the panel was not unanimous and one member did support the application while another wished to abstain until more up-to-date information from the affordable housing register is presented next week.
