IN May, Julie James, Minister for Climate Change announced that an independent review of flooding events across Wales during the winter of 2020-21 will be undertaken by Professor Elwen Evans QC.
The review is part of the Co-operation Agreement between the Welsh Government and Plaid Cymru.
Over the last few months, the Plaid Cymru Designated Member, Sian Gwenllian and the Minister have been working closely to develop the scope, approach to delivery and terms of reference for the review.
In a statement Julie James said:
“I am pleased to announce that the final Terms of Reference have now been agreed and can be found here https://gov.wales/independent-review-section-19-and-nrw-flood-reports-terms-reference
This government and Plaid Cymru are working together in the best interest of our communities to learn from past, make changes where these are necessary and develop good practice. The outcome of this review will enable us to improve how we deliver flood protection to reduce flood risk.
This statement is being issued during recess in order to keep members informed. Should members wish me to make a further statement or to answer questions on this when the Senedd returns I would be happy to do so.”
