On Tuesday (Sep 10) Member of the Senedd for Mid and West Wales and Leader of the Welsh Liberal Democrats Jane Dodds MS has called for an urgent assessment by the government of the health of the River Wye.
Commenting, Jane Dodds said:
“Many people have written to me over the summer concerned about the health of the River Wye.
“I am particularly concerned that existing all-Wales proposals for water quality regulations, which failed to secure support from farming unions, have delayed the urgent progress needed on water pollution. I have spoken to both farmers and environmental campaigners who I know all share the same commitment to tackling water pollution.
“It’s important that a whole system approach is taken, including properly resourcing existing regulatory and monitoring mechanisms to take action against polluters, in addition to new regulations where such measures are needed.”
