LLANELLI’S Member of the Senedd Lee Waters caught up with three local nominees due to feature in an online portrait gallery of community champions across Wales.
After asking for nominations on social media, Lee was delighted to congratulate the top three: Ffion Gwyther aka Ffion From Furnace, Steve Jenkins aka Jenks Art, and Cally Williams and The Little Sunflower Library over a Zoom call.
Ffion produced over 80 videos impersonating famous people and actors during lockdown, and there’s plenty more to come to keep us laughing.
Meanwhile, Jenks Art is behind the splash of colour and Thank You NHS murals that dotted up around Llanelli during lockdown. 18 murals in all have been finished right across the town.
Last but not least, Cally set up a free book exchange and delivered sunflowers to people in her community, all helping to put a big smile on people’s faces.
Thanking them for their efforts, Lee said “this gallery is our way of saying thank you for bringing smiles to us all. I’m really proud that there are three champions from Llanelli who will feature in a Wales-wide gallery, and they’ve all in different ways really helped lots of people get through a really difficult time. I think it’s great everybody else is going to see them and see what they’ve done, Diolch yn fawr iawn.”
The full gallery will be available to view on the Senedd’s social media accounts.
