Llandyssil comes together for the opening of wildflower meadows

Community Councillor, Cllr Gwyneth Jones and Kathy Braddock MBE a Trustee of the Llandyssil Community Charitable Trust have been working closely together with volunteers from the community to create a meadow ready for summer.

The project received donations of over 200 plants and have planted two native apple trees in recognition of the Queens Platinum Jubilee. The seeds have been sewn and the meadows are ready to be enjoyed by all. The project will allow the community and visitors to enjoy the diversity of a meadow and to appreciate the beauty of the lovely small village.

The meadows sits along the Peter Warlock Trail. Peter Warlock was a renowned composer, author and music critic who used the trail to visit the Church in the village where he played the organ.

Llandyssil Community Charitable Trust approached the Peter Warlock Society, who regularly walk the trail, with the idea of the wildflower meadows. The society were very supportive and donated £450 towards the project. The Chairman of the Peter Warlock Society, Michael Graves will also be attending the opening this Saturday.

The project also received a £900 grant from The National Lottery Community Fund to help create the meadows. Funding Manager Derek Preston-Hughes will also be at the opening on Saturday representing the fund and to show support for a great grassroots project

The Wildflower Meadow is a small project – but shows that when people in a small community get together for a common goal how much can be achieved.
