THE People’s choice category for the RAF photographic image of the year 2021 has been won by 1st Senior Aircraftman Iwan Lewis from Llanelli.
Iwan was a reporter/photographer at Llanelli Online before leaving to take up a career with the RAF.
His work is being recognised and used by some of the UK’s biggest national newspapers.
Newspapers used his images of iconic spitfires in April 2020, as two Royal Air Force Battle of Britain Memorial Flight aircraft took part in a flypast to honour the 100th birthday of Captain Tom Moore.
The general public were invited to vote for the winner of the Peoples’ Choice, from nine of the best images on the RAF’s official Facebook page. An Awards Ceremony was held at Bentley Priory Museum to announce the winner for the category, with Air Commodore Males as the Presenting Officer.
1st – Senior Aircraftman Dafydd Lewis, RAF Coningsby. ‘Flying Home’ shows BLACKJACK from the RAF Typhoon Display Team flying over the iconic White Cliffs of Dover.
