Local Ceredigion social care services face significant pressures

DOMICILLIARY care services across Ceredigion are facing significant challenges as a result of the pandemic.

Despite easing coronavirus restrictions in Wales, the pandemic continues to pose difficulties in terms of delivering adult social care services to those who need them.

The situation in Ceredigion reflects regional and national issues where health and social care staff have experienced fatigue over a prolonged period, resulting in many choosing to leave the sector.

In Ceredigion, as across Wales, the demand for practical support and personal care has risen sharply whilst the capacity of the Council, its partner agencies and local providers are under a great deal of pressure. Regrettably, this affects the continuity and availability of services.

Council staff are working tirelessly along with local, regional and national partners to address the current difficulties. Ceredigion County Council will continue to prioritise adults who are at risk and those who most need vital and urgent care and support.

Service users will be contacted to discuss their support packages and encouraged to consider self-help and family and community support options where possible.

The Ceredigion response to the COVID-19 crisis has been impressive with individuals, families, communities and local services working together making extensive and sustained efforts to keep vulnerable people safe.

Together, we can be confident that we will all continue to face up to the current difficulties and commit our best efforts to support the most vulnerable in our communities. This has been a clear priority for the Council during the pandemic and it will continue to be so.
