London teenager jailed for county lines drug offences

AN 18 year-old man from London has been sentenced to three years and four months behind bars after pleading guilty to possession with intent to supply crack cocaine, cannabis and diamorphine.

Calvin Ochan, who comes from Lambeth, was arrested at a flat in the Wildmill area of Bridgend after a report from the householder that he was a victim of cuckooing by a London-based county lines drugs gang.

Following sentencing at Cardiff Crown Court today (Thursday, February 27), Detective Inspector Sarah Trigg said: “We responded to a report from a member of the public that he was being cuckooed by what he believed was a drugs dealer.

“When we arrived, officers arrested Ochan who was in possession of a quantity of drugs, the paraphernalia needed to weigh and package drugs, several telephones and a lock knife.
“Such was the weight of evidence against him that Ochan had no option but to enter guilty pleas to all the offences.

“County lines drug dealing and associated criminality is a significant national problem and one which is treated as a force priority by South Wales Police.

“We are committed to protecting those at risk in our communities, bringing those who deal in the supply of drugs to justice and making South Wales a hostile environment for those seeking to do harm.”

Anyone with concerns, suspicions or information about county lines criminality is urged to report it via 101 or 999 in an emergency. Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111
