Newyddion Cymru Ar-Lein : Wales News Online

Newyddion Lleol a Chenedlaethol Cymru – Local and National News for Wales

KIDWELLY is home to a champion environmentalist who spends a lot of his time cleaning up the streets where those who do not have the same care and passion for the environment nonchalantly discard their litter.

Eight-year-old Malaki Whitlock who attends Ysgol y Castell can be seen regularly picking up discarded litter with one of his Christmas presents. That’s right, a litter picker; what else.

The young environmentalist has now been recognised for his efforts receiving a volunteers award for Volunteers’ week. The award acknowledges volunteering stars and recognises the outstanding contribution Malaki has made to his community.

The award celebrates his initiative, dedication and public spirit.

His message is clear. Next time you think about throwing your rubbish, think again, pick it up and make sure it gets recycled or placed in a bin.
