Man arrested on suspicion of murder following death of Shane O’Rourke, Ammanford.

DYFED-Powys Police have confirmed a man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the sudden death of a 30-year-old in Ammanford on Saturday, November 2.

Officers were called to an address in Wind Street at around 12.30 pm, where a man was found deceased.

He has now been formally identified as Shane O’Rourke, from Ammanford, whose family has described him as a man who was “loved by so many”.

Following swift enquiries, two men were arrested on suspicion of assault on Saturday.

One has been released with no further action. The other – a 51-year-old man – remains in police custody where he was further arrested on suspicion of murder.

Detective Inspector Wayne Bevan said: “This is an ongoing enquiry, and members of the public will continue to see police in the Wind Street area.

“We would like to reassure the community that we are not looking for anyone else in relation to the incident, but we would still like to speak with anyone who has information that might help our investigation.

“Our thoughts are with the family of Shane O’Rourke at this time, who asks for time to grieve in privacy.”
