More appointments available at recycling centres

RESIDENTS will be able to make more frequent appointments at the county’s four Household Waste and Recycling Centres.

From Monday, September 14, residents will be able to make unlimited appointments each week, if required. The situation will be monitored regularly.

The slots must be made by 2.30pm the day before the required appointment. These can be made online by going to www.carmarthenshire.gov.wales/recycling

Nantycaws, Trostre and Wernddu are open seven days a week and Whitland from Wednesday to Sunday.

More than 56,000 appointments have been made to visit the sites since the booking system was introduced in May.

Residents are being reminded that entry to the site is at any time within the half hour appointment slot made – residents don’t need to attend at the start of the slot and may find less of a wait going later on, for example if booking a 10am slot residents can turn up at 10.15am and still have plenty of time to offload their waste.

Please remember to ensure all waste is sorted and separated before visiting so that as much waste as possible is recycled in the relevant containers on site. Also remember to bring identification as all recycling centres are for household waste from Carmarthenshire residents only. More information on this and other frequently asked questions can be found on the recycling, bins and litter pages on the council’s website.

Executive board member responsible for environment, Cllr Hazel Evans, said: “We recognise that this is a valuable service for our residents and we are constantly looking at how we can make it easier for residents to get rid of their domestic waste, but this can obviously only happen once we have gone through processes to ensure it is safe for our staff and residents attending the sites as the situation currently stands.”
