MP encourages Llanelli shop owners to enter ‘Best Small Shops’ competition

NIA Griffith MP is encouraging small shop owners in the Llanelli constituency to enter the Best Small Shops Competition 2019 by the deadline of 9 September. This annual competition celebrates the creativity of small shops and the important role they play in communities all over the UK.

The Small Shops Competition is free to enter (via www.bestsmallshops.co.uk) and open to any small shops operating in the UK. All shops that are entered into the competition will be promoted via an online Indie Retail Directory, and the 25 that are shortlisted will be invited to a reception at the Houses of Parliament on 5 November to meet their MP.

Shops will be judged by a panel made up of established representatives from the independent retail industry. The judges will be looking for evidence of entrepreneurial spirit, innovation and what they have done that will have a lasting, positive impact on their community.

Nia Griffith MP said, “This is a great initiative to highlight the vital contribution small shops make to our local communities. Whether it is providing unique products or services, supporting community projects or adding to the character of an area, small shops are the lifeblood of our communities.

“We have some fantastic small shops in the Llanelli constituency, so I would encourage all local shop owners to consider nominating their business for the Small Shops competition. I look forward to meeting any that are shortlisted at the parliamentary reception in November.”

The entries for 2019’s Best Small Shop competition are now open. Submit your entry at www.bestsmallshops.co.uk. Entries close on Monday 9 September 2019.
