LLANELLI’S MP Nia Griffith has commented on the recent announcement by the Hywel Dda University Health Board’s plans to make changes to the GP out of hours service.
In a statement issued this evening the MP said: “I was concerned to read about the planned changes to the GP Out of Hours Service in the Hywel Dda area. Whilst I understand the intense pressures on this service, the Health Board must ensure that there is proper doctor cover around the clock at Prince Philip Hospital (PPH).
“Lee Waters AM and I are seeking reassurance from Chief Executive of the Health Board that people who need an out of hours appointment or treatment in the minor injuries unit in Llanelli will be seen at PPH in a timely manner. We have also pressed him for a timescale for these temporary measures.”
