The lifeboat launched and was on scene with the casualty vessel by 7.15 South West of Nash Point. Coastguard helicopter 187 was also requested and a helicopter crew member placed on the deck of the cargo ship. The decision was made to evacuate the casualty by air and he was taken to Morriston Hospital. Deputy launch authority Rob Tovey said ‘at the time of launch there was severe weather in the area with heavy rain, strong wind and thunder so it was unclear if the Coastguard helicopter would be able to assist. The lifeboat was sent to ensure medical assistance was on the way’.

The lifeboat returned to station and was ready for service .
